Mostly I think because Bree is a smart, capable character. Unlike Bella, who I kept wanting to hit up the side of the head and tell her to suck it up during &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0316038377?ie=UTF8&#038;tag=snbconser-20&#038;linkCode=as2&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=9325&#038;creativeASIN=0316038377\">Twilight<\/a>&#8221; and &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0316075655?ie=UTF8&#038;tag=snbconser-20&#038;linkCode=as2&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=9325&#038;creativeASIN=0316075655\">New Moon<\/a>&#8220;. (She&#8217;s shows enough improvement in the last two novels to avoid a head smacking from me.)<\/p>\n<p>After I finished the novella, I re-read the scene in &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/031608736X?ie=UTF8&#038;tag=snbconser-20&#038;linkCode=as2&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=9325&#038;creativeASIN=031608736X\">Eclipse <\/a>&#8221; where Bree meets her demise. It&#8217;s a much more powerful scene now that I know her backstory and I&#8217;m left wondering about Fred.
