I was wandering around Lougheed Mall on Sunday until it was time to head over to Heather & Greg’s place for our weekly TV, chat and just hang out night.
I gave in to temptation and strolled into Coles Book Store. I really should know better, I can never manage to leave there empty-handed.
Unable to stop myself, I bee-lined to the back of the store to see the new novella from Stephenie Meyers, ‘The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner’. I seem to have bought it. It’s research…. really.
I also made an impulse buy of an anti-procrastination book and clock set. I figure I needed a clock in my office that was easier to see than the tiny numbers on the bottom corner of my computer monitors. The fun part about this clock is that the tick, tick of the seconds going by is quite audible (reminding me time is passing, I’d better get moving) and in place of numbers, there is the word ‘now’ in different colours and fonts. |
Like most creative folk, well OK, like most folks, I have a real problem with procrastination.
I procrastinate on the things I don’t want to do because well, I don’t want to do them. Then I procrastinate on the things I want to do because they’re fun and I feel guilty because I think there is something else I should be doing that is less fun.
My only consolation is that many of you are nodding your heads as you read this, understanding completely… I am not alone!
